Introduction

We consider Winsford ASC to be one of the best swimming clubs in the area. Very few clubs of our size are fortunate enough to have an experienced National Coach such as Dave Pettengell, who helps to ensure our swimmers receive the highest standard of coaching. Dave is ably supported by level 3 coach Dan Goodwin.

The club offers 16 and a half hours of pool time, long course training once a month plus land training for our higher squads. We have a six lane deck level pool with a state of the art electronic timing system and have been awarded the Sports England Clubmark and the Swim 21 Silver Award for Competitive Development status.

We aim to be a friendly, inclusive club which caters for all swimmers from the complete beginner to national level competitors. We operate lessons and squad systems, with a transition squad to bridge the gap between the two. Advancement through the various levels is determined by the teaching and coaching teams through continuous assessments and termly promotions.

The club regularly produces County Champions and qualifiers for both Regional and National championships.

We compete in two leagues - the Crusader and Arena – and use these to offer swimmers of differing abilities competitive opportunities at an appropriate level. We also encourage swimmers to enter open meets in which the club participates. Club Championships are held once a year and time trials at regular intervals to allow swimmers’ progress to be closely monitored.

The club is run by volunteers and, like most swimming clubs, relies heavily on parental support. If you would like to help in any way please contact the club secretary on winsfordasc@sky.com.
